I've decided to skip the official bio and introduce myself directly. One of the benefits of being the youngest in a large family is that I learned many life lessons not only through my own direct experience, but also by being witness to the trials and errors of older siblings. One of the most practical was discovering that sometimes being direct is the only way to be heard.
Another benefit was being exposed to all sorts of music, from my parent's generation on down. It's given me an appreciation for the vast variety of musical genres and styles.
I can't point to one particular artist, band or genre that's influenced me, but some of my favorites, old and new, in no particular order, include Ella Fitzgerald, Ani Difranco, Fiona Apple, Cake, David Byrne, Elvis Costello, Leonard Cohen and Aimee Mann.
I've been singing since the age of three. At age ten I was Annie. It was the first time I performed with a professional singing group and the first time I ever had anyone ask me for my autograph. Incidentally, it was also the last time anyone has approached me for my autograph, but now that I have my very own website, and a CD release pending, I'm certain hoards of requests will be forthcoming.
For the past couple of years I've been working with Tim Bruhns-Blink Music on
Exposed, my debut 13 song CD. It's the pop/rock follow-up to my EP, The Magic
of Fire. Where The Magic of Fire has a more synthetic feel, Comic Strip is more
organic;
less drum beats, more drummers… less synthesizers, more guitars. The result is
groove-driven studio magic, blended with good old raw musicianship. Comic Strip
has gone through a continuous evolution, which despite rendering the original
ETA
laughable, was necessary to allow the project to grow into itself. A terrific
by-product of this is that it allowed us to have some extremely talented and
respected people participate on the project, including but not limited to Tony
Levin, Bryan Carrigan and Chris Fogel.
Look for Comic Strip in November 2005! In the meantime you can check out final
mix
samples
on the discography page.
Thanks for checking in.
Peace,
